What is Argan oil?

Argan oil, also known as Moroccan nut oil, is yielded from the nuts grown on the Argania spinosa (Argan tree) in Morocco, which has been used by Moroccans for generations. In recent years, research has found that it has many unique chemical ingredients, making it a beauty treasure to deal with various skin and hair problems! At present, it has been recognized worldwide as “liquid gold” and become a reliable natural skin care products. The yellow-orange Argan oil is a perfect vegetable oil with gorgeous skincare functions to protect the body against external environment.

Argan oil is only produced in southern Morocco. It is one of the three treasures of Morocco and the mainstay treasure of Morocco Pavilion in 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The production process of Argan oil is very complicate. At present, it is still mainly by manual work. It takes about 60kg of raw Argan nuts — two trees worth — to yield one liter of oil. And that amount takes one woman a week of eight-hour workdays to produce. Only breaking the nuts to get out the kernels will cost huge amount of labor work, because this process must be completed by hand (Attempts to mechanize this process have been unsuccessful), then the kernels are ground or pressed into paste, through complex processes to finish the production of Argan oil.

Argan oil contains about 80% unsaturated fatty acids, rich in essential fatty acids (EFA), sterols, vitamin E and phenols, it is more antioxidant than olive oil. The Argan oil from roasted kernels is mainly for culinary use; while the unroasted Argan oil is traditionally used to treat various skin diseases, and nowadays the cosmetic and skin care effects are extremely popular in Europe and the United States.

  • What is the benefit of Argan oil in skin care?

    1. Anti-aging and anti-wrinkle

Argan oil is rich in sterols and polyphenols and other ingredients to help skin metabolism, delaying the process of skin aging. Phyto-sterols help soften the skin, stimulate pore detoxification, and restore the natural lipid barrier of the skin. Polyphenols are well-known antioxidants, which can not only delay skin aging, resist free radicals, anti wrinkle and dispel spots, but also prolong the effect time of other antioxidants, such as vitamin E and vitamin C.

    1. Skin moisturizer

The fatty acids can maintain the hydration level of human health, research points out that linoleic acid has obvious effects on anti-inflammation, acne reduction and moisturizing function in the skin, and the lack of essential unsaturated fatty acids can lead to premature aging and wrinkles of skin. The natural high content of vitamin E, essential fatty acids and linoleic acid in Argan oil can effectively restore and maintain skin moisture and repair dry and rough skin. Argan oil is easily absorbed by the skin, giving us a tender, soft and glowing skin.

Studies have shown that the actual cause of chilblain is the spasm of smooth muscle in the vein capillary, under the skin, when it meets hypothermia, which reduces the permeability of blood vessels, causes blood retention and forms chilblain. The best solution is to relieve the spasm of vascular smooth muscle and restore the permeability of vein capillary, thereby increasing blood flow, supplemented by anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-pruritus therapies. This is how wonder is Morocco’s Argan oil, which is rich in sterols. It can effectively help promote skin metabolism, stimulate pore detoxification and restore the patency of capillaries. Its unique squalene has anti-inflammatory properties. It has been proved to have a fairly good effect on the healing of skin chilblain and skin cracks. Treatment of chilblain with Argan oil: apply a few drops of Argan oil to the affected area several times a day, assisted by gentle rubbing to promote its absorption, it will work in two to five days.
